Dr. Sumanta Kumar Bera is an Anterior Segment Surgeon whose specialization is on Cornea and external eye disease. He passed MBBS from Calcutta National Medical College in 2007. He completed his master of surgery in Ophthalmology from Regional Institute of ophthalmology, (Medical College, Kolkata) in 2013. After this he Join this institute and work for awhile after this – he went to Sankara Netralaya, Chennai, to complete his fellowship in ‘Corneal Disease’. He rejoined this institute in 2015 after completing his fellowship. After this he passed “Diplomate of National Board” (DNB) examination in Ophthalmology in 2018. He passed the Fellow of International Council of Ophthalmology (FICO) in 2019. He Passed FAICO in cornea subspecialty in 2020. He had published 4 papers in various ophthalmology journal as co-Author. His present area of interest is different types of corneal transplantation especially Lamellar keratoplasty and Ocular surface reconstructive surgery. From 2018 he is working as Chief Medical Officer of VMA Netra Niramay Niketan, Chaitanyapur branch.
