MBBS from NRS Medical College, Kolkata, DNB (Ophthalmology) from Aravind Eye Hospital, Madurai. Trained as National Focal Person in Low Vision from Hong Kong Society for the Blind then in Clinical Low Vision from Light House International, New York.
Trained in Cornea from LV Prasad Eye Institute, Hyderabad and Moran Eye Institute, Utah, USA.
Started career as a residential Ophthalmologist in Vivekananda Mission Ashram Netra Niramay Niketan, a hundred bedded rural eye hospital in Chaitanyapur, West Bengal in 2001. Established Low Vision Clinic, Rural Eye bank and became first head of Institute of Ophthalmic training. Organised large scale paediatric low vision service in West Bengal with Sarva Siksha Mission (Inclusive education programme). Now heading VMANNN Chandi (Amtala) branch in South 24 Parganas since 2014.
Recipient of AIOS Award for Refraction and Contact lens, 2010, Prof. M. A. Matin Indo-Bangladesh Friendship Award, 2014 and Dr. G. Sitalakshmi Award for contribution to cornea services and rural eye banking, 2018.
